OLD NEWS Old News is a project about information, media and recycled, reprinted news. It is a non-profit newspaper presenting a selection of articles, images and words taken from newspapers. Old News is a second-generation, copyright-free paper. The Old News newspaper is handed out for free during the exhibition at The Living Art Museum. The project was initiated in 2004 by Danish curator Jacob Fabricius, director of Malmö Kunsthalle in Sweden. He has invited a number of international artists to do a specific work for each newspaper. Old News exhibitions have previously been presented at 10 art museums/cultural centers, such as at Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, Cneai, Chatou, France, Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, México City, CCA-Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos, Nigeria and Malmö Konsthall, Sweden. THE MOB AGAINST THE PROSECUTION! There will be two colliding openings at the museum this Saturday. On one hand the Old News exhibition. On the other, an exhibition of works from a support event held at The Living Art Museum on July 3rd, titled “The Mob Against the Prosecution!”. Over 20 Icelandic artists contributed their works to the event, supporting the fight of nine young Icelanders, who have been accused and are currently being trialed for invading and disrupting the Parliament in Reykjavik. |
