Curator’s Tour: NEW ACQUISITIONS: received, remade, replaced
Welcome to a guided tour on Long Thursday by curator and collection manager Jenny Barrett through the exhibition New Acquisitions: received, remade, replaced.
The exhibition gives a snapshot of the breadth of donations, from sculptures and installations to a remake of a previously damaged work and a replacement of a recently stolen one, alongside supplementary material to a long-standing work in the collection and a proposal that was never actualised. The goal of the exhibition is to reflect on Nýló’s unique approach to collecting and running a Living Archive.
Jenny Barrett has been the Collection Manager at Nýló since September 2024. She has a MA in Museum Studies from Háskóli Íslands and a BA (hons) in Criticism, Communication and Curatorship in Art and Design from Central Saint Martins. Originally from the UK she has been based in Reykjavík since 2014.
