Release Party – Third Issue of Art in Iceland

Saturday May 27th at 4:00-6:00 p.m., Art in Iceland magazine invites you to celebrate the release of the third issue at The Living Art Museum.

In the third issue, readers will find articles dealing with many of the ongoing topics and themes defining the Icelandic art world today. By calling for submissions, presenting a paper gallery and promoting the Icelandic Art Prize, the magazine seeks to be a platform that may support and uplift art in Iceland both within the country and in the global context.

The issue includes contributions from the following writers: Heiðar Kári Rannversson, Inga Björk Margrétar Bjarnadóttir, Lukas Bury, Eyja Orradóttir, Gundega Šķēla, Birta Guðjónsdóttir, Juliane Foronda, Páll Haukur Björnsson, Kaarin Kivirähk, Marika Agu, Maria Arusoo and Sten Ojavee. Sunna Ben is the curator of this year’s edition of the Art in Iceland Gallery.

Editor-in-Chief is Starkaður Sigurðarson, with Becky Forsythe and Hólmar Hólm on the Editorial Board. The magazine is designed by Petter Spilde, @pssa_service. The publication is made possible by the collaboration of the Visual Arts Council, the Icelandic Art Center, the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists, the Iceland University of the Arts and the Association of Art History and Theory in Iceland. As a bilingual publication, the magazine is printed fully in both Icelandic and English.

On this occasion, Lukas Bury and Gundega Šķēla will read from their texts published in the latest issue, but Lukas’ text, “Checking Boxes” has now also been published on the website of the Icelandic Art Center, see here: https://icelandicartcenter.is/checking-boxes/

Guests will be able to purchase the magazine at the release party, but copies of the second issue will also be available for purchase, not to mention a few copies of the first issue, which sold up nearly everywhere in the year following its release. The third issue is now also available at most major bookstores and museum shops in Iceland, as well as being distributed to art- and culture institutions abroad.

Light refreshments will be provided.

We look forward to seeing you!
