Information regarding the annual meeting
All seats on the deputy board are vacant: three deputies will be elected for one year as well as the Chairman of the board for one year.
Sunna Ástþórsdóttir, Chairman of the board, will run again for the Chairman. Auður Ómarsdóttir and Þorsteinn Eyfjörð will not be running again for a seat on the deputy board.
Individuals that are interested in serving on the board are asked to announce their candidacy to Nýló's office by sending an e-mail to nylo(at)nylo.is or come forward at the beginning of the meeting.
The board of the museum is the highest authority in the affairs of Nýló. In order to give those interested a little context and understanding of its role please read the following: The board shapes the museum's policy, and the main decisions regarding Nýló's activities go through the board. For example, the board selects exhibitions and evaluates donations to the museum collection. The board meets monthly at board meetings where the matters of the museum are reviewed but meets more often around special projects. The board's contribution is in the form of voluntary work and thus takes into account everyone's time and energy, but it is assumed that those who run for a seat on the board can actively participate in the activities. Sometimes a board is called for an urgent task, for example during installation and therefore it is preferred that board members are based in Iceland. Sitting on Nýló's board is an opportunity to make a difference and get your ideas across regarding the museum, shape the collection, and directly participate in the exhibition programs and other projects.
Only those who have paid the annual fee of 3.900 kr for the year 2024 can vote. The claim for the 2024 annual fee will be sent to your online bank this week.
Representatives have two options to vote:
1. Those who attend the meeting fill out a ballot at the meeting.
2. Those who are outside the capital area or abroad can send their phone number before 12:00 pm, June 3rd at nylo(at)nylo.is and a trustee will call them from the meeting.
If there is an election, calls will start at 17.15 and representatives can then report their votes.
— An independent trustee will receive and record submitted votes.
— Two representatives at the meeting will be chosen to be enumerators.
— The candidates who receive the most votes are elected.
— If the number of votes of two or more candidates is the same, the election shall be repeated only for the candidates with the equal number of votes.
— The results of the elections will be reported on the museum's website soon after the meeting.
