Leftovers: A lot has happened — panel discussion
Welcome to A lot has happened, a panel on archiving performances. The panel discussion starts at 17:00, after Clare’ Aimées performance, as a part of the ongoing exhibition and performance series Leftovers, Artist Agnes Ársælsdóttir moderates the conversation with The day will end with an finissage from 19:00. The talk is moderated by artist and researcher Agnes Ársælsdóttir. She will lead a conversation with the artists that have taken part in the event series, on questions such as: How do live artworks extend into videos, photographs, texts and other documentation? What can these by-products tell us about the work that was performed and what information gets lost in the process?
Participating artists are: Wiola Ujazdowska, Katrín Inga Jónsdóttir Hjördísardóttir, Unnur Andrea Einarsdóttir, Clare Aimée. The panel coincides with Agnes’s ongoing research project called Where do we keep the performances? with the guidance from Hlynur Helgason, associate professor of Art History and Theory and Sigríður Regína Sigurþórsdóttir, Collections Manager at the Living Art Museum. In the project, Agnes aims to map out the performance art history in Iceland by taking interviews, collecting news articles and rummage through museum collections. The panel will be a platform to collectively reflect on the act of archiving performances. What does the performance archive at Nýló tell us about how we collect and what information is important to store.
The Leftovers series will be on display until August 6th 2023.
