Artist talk: Jo Pawlowska
A warm welcome to an artist talk with Jo Pawlowska on Saturday november 23rd at 4pm. Navigating is a group exhibition of works by artists Despina Charitonidi, Jo Pawlowska in collaboration with Sasa Lubinska, Kosmas Nikolaou, and JZoe Hatziyannaki curated by Eleni Tsopotou / Stoa 42. It is a part of HEAD2HEAD art festival.
Organ3000 / B0dy_extended
The video-installation invites one into a speculative digital ecosystem with an organ-avatar as the main protagonist, where imagined and glitched body parts attempt to mutate the data that feeds them.
It is an exploration on the body, hardware and possibilities of extensions.
Somewhere between now and then, a home computer laboratory. Collective creation of low-cost, hybrid sex organs is accessible and possible. The process of creating Organ3000 has been abruptly interrupted. The computer-lab is deserted, fragments of code and digital remnants are scattered throughout. Organ-avatar dreams and lusts for connections.
How can our technologically enhanced and “glitched” bodies connect with others and resist traditional binary code?
Can cybernetic organs experience multiplicities of desire?
This video-installation is a part of an ongoing investigation of virtual encounters and digital spaces, where non-binary avatars multiply, bodies are fluid and queer kinships are divine.
Organ3000 began as a personal project to reconcile the emotions experienced during the bodyhacking process and gender transition - and has developed into an exploration of play around the technologies and digital realms.
Collaboration with Sasa Lubińska.
Installation facilitated through Myndhöfundasjóður Íslands.
