Open Archive: What do you want to see?
As part of Nýló´s participation in Reykjavík Museum Night and the Winter Lights Festival 2025, we are opening the doors to our archive giving you a glimpse into the inner workings of the Museum.
So what do you want to see?
One of the goals of Nýló since its founding in 1978 has been to preserve artwork and material from the contemporary art scene. The archive now holds a diverse collection by Icelandic and international artists with upwards of 3000 artworks, which have been acquired solely through donations by members and friends. We now invite you to tell us what you would like to see from the collection. Please search the archive at https://www.sarpur.is and contact collection manager Jenny Barrett at jenny(at)nylo.is with your requests.
The Archive is housed at Völvufell 13-21, 111 Breiðholt, therefore we are kicking it off early at 16:00 till 18:00 to allow people time to travel back to town to take part in events elsewhere, like Claudia Hausfeld's solo exhibition at the Marshall House which will be open till 21:00.
