Tales from the Collection
Be warmly welcome to the event Tales from the Collection in the Living Art Museum, Marshall House, Grandagarður 20, 101, Reykjavík.
The event is held on the final day of New Acquisitions: received, remade, replaced, an exhibition that revolves around the different types of acquisitions found in Nýló’s collection and the conservation methods used to preserve them. At Tales from the Collection, we will look back through its history with previous staff and board members, housecats, and other regulars who will share their experience and interactions with Nýló’s collection.
The Living Art Museum was established to preserve Icelandic contemporary art history; therefore, the collection plays a key role in the museum's operations. Works by many well-known Icelandic artists would have been lost without the founding of The Living Art Museum. A lot has happened in the 47-year history of the collection that is important to recall before it falls into oblivion. For example, it has moved up to eight times, taken on complicated conservation projects, and gone through the hands of many board and staff members who all have their stories to tell.
Come, listen and share experiences over light refreshments and in good company.
See you at Nýló!
