Election

All seats on the board and the deputy board are vacant:

The Chairman will be elected for one year, four members on the main board are elected for two years each and three deputies will be elected for one year each.

Sunna Ástþórsdóttir, chairman of the board, will not run again. She has resigned from her position as director of The Living Art Museum and will end her work for the museum 1st of August this year. Sunna was elected chairman of the board at the annual meeting in May 2021. She was then appointed director of The Living Art Museum and has held the position since August 2021.

According to Article 6 in the charter, the board of The Living Art Museum hires an individual who is responsible for the museum's full-time or part-time activities, as well as other staff. The elected board will therefore consider the selection and hiring of a new museum director following the annual meeting. In addition to working closely with the board on issues regarding the collection and forming the artistic directions of the Living Art Museum the museum director is responsible for running the museum which can oftentimes be fragile. The museum director is also responsible for all professional operations such as financing, personnel, communication with the government and city officials, exhibiting artists and other collaborators.

The board of the museum is the highest authority in the affairs of Nýló. The board's contribution is in the form of voluntary work and thus takes into account everyone's time and energy, but it is assumed that those who run for a seat on the board can actively participate in the activities. The board shapes the museum's policy, and the main decisions regarding Nýló's activities go through the board. For example, the board selects exhibitions and evaluates donations to the museum collection. The board meets regularly at board meetings where the matters of the museum are reviewed but meets more often around special projects. Sometimes a board is called for an urgent task, for example during installation and therefore it is preferred that board members are based in Iceland. Sitting on Nýló's board is an opportunity to make a difference and get your ideas across regarding the museum, shape the collection, and directly participate in the exhibition programs and other projects.

Individuals who are interested in serving on the board are asked to announce their candidacy to Nýló's office by sending an e-mail to nylo(at)nylo.is or at the beginning of the meeting.
